A cutting edge international contemporary art fair will debut in Chicago this September – and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them.

In November 2011, Otherwise unveiled the visual identity, website, blog and social media platforms that we designed and developed for EXPO CHICAGO. With the fair only three months away, EXPO CHICAGO is gaining recognition in the international art world and our work is being showcased on a global stage.

Otherwise worked with EXPO CHICAGO to translate the vision for the art fair into a powerful and clearly articulated brand. Through narrative, photographic and illustrative content, the website and blog illuminate EXPO CHICAGO as an avant-garde brand with strong messaging to match the integrity of the fair.

Through a visually compelling identity, multi-dimensional platforms and innovative creative strategy, Otherwise has helped position EXPO CHICAGO as a leader in new media. A key element in distinguishing a digital presence was to develop a blog that serves as an autonomous publication. We created The Seen, Chicago’s international art and design blog and a living resource for the fair. Take an in-depth look at our work with The Seen here.

Otherwise uses The Seen, Facebook and Twitter to support the process of providing both created and curated content that is relevant and timely. Along with news and announcements surrounding the fair, our content covers museum exhibitions, gallery shows, studio visits, artist interviews and international art news. We curate a variety of perspectives and manage contributors from Chicago to Paris in order to reveal an inside glimpse of the contemporary art world otherwise unexplored.

In The Seen, we review exhibitions from Madrid to Toronto, cover major shows in New York City and feature small but important exhibits from Kansas City to St. Louis. By engaging with the art community through Facebook and Twitter, we build relationships, encourage conversation and strengthen the EXPO CHICAGO brand. You can find us live tweeting from Kassel at dOCUMENTA (13), providing a first look at some of the incredible work on view.

In April 2012, EXPO CHICAGO announced their official Exhibitor List 2012. Under the leadership of President and Director Tony Karman, the fair opens with an impressive list of leading international galleries, offering a curated blend of contemporary and modern art and design. Concept-driven programming will draw upon the world’s top artists, curators and collectors, with the aim of fostering new dialogue within the international art community.

This inaugural art fair is a game changer for Chicago, presenting opportunities for artistic, cultural and community partnerships. EXPO CHICAGO represents a vision for Chicago as an international arts destination, helping to define the cultural future of the city while showcasing local galleries and artists to the global art market.

From inception to their upcoming world premiere, collaborating with EXPO CHICAGO has been an enriching and rewarding experience. Stay tuned to our work as the fair approaches in September.
