Founded by Jon Veal and Jordan Cambell, alt_ began as a collaboration in response to the trauma of communities in the South and West Sides of Chicago and the belief that art could be used as a tool for healing. alt_ was formed with the intention of revitalizing communities through art and culture, and as alt_ continued to expand, they needed consistent, unifying language to use both externally and internally.

Working closely with their founders, we took inspiration from their past and present to understand and illuminate how their programming has touched people and communities to create a new vocabulary unique to alt_. This earnest, poetic and insightful new language reflects the energy, vigor and passion with which alt_ approaches every problem and initiative.
